New Identity - 2025

In the Summer of 2025, The Wine Vault and VT Beer Company in Waterbury Center, VT decided to merge, combining the sister beverage stores into one. Looking for something to tie the two together, Owner Anastasia Kohl came to me with the idea to infuse an ampersan character with visual elements of wine and beer tools. After implementing her corkscrew idea, more opportunities for different tools presented themselves, such as a bottle opener in the upper negative space and a fulcrum at the character’s end.

Anastasia wanted the identity to be simple, clean, and bold, using only black and white and able to fit inside a circle sign. The ampersan mark works both on its own and with typography to communicate the appreciation for both beer and wine. Today, the sign hangs down the streets of Waterbury center for customers, citizens, and tourists to enjoy!
